Silver Lining FAQs

Most families find a caregiver through a trusted agency, like Silver Lining, or a personal referral. Hiring privately can mean extra responsibilities like screening, payroll and taxes, scheduling backups, and managing liability.

We handle the details that can feel overwhelming—caregiver screening, employment paperwork, payroll, and taxes. We’re bonded and insured, and if a Caregiver is unexpectedly unavailable, we can often arrange coverage quickly for added peace of mind.

Families pay in different ways depending on their needs. Common options include private pay, long-term care insurance, veterans benefits, life insurance benefits, and reverse mortgages. You may also qualify for Medicaid benefits, and we are a Medicaid provider.

Medicare typically does not cover custodial care such as bathing, dressing, meal help, or companionship—even with most supplemental plans. Medicare may cover skilled home health services when medically necessary, but ongoing non-medical support is usually private pay or covered by long-term care insurance.

Home Health Aides (HHA) provide non-medical support like companionship, light housekeeping, errands, meal prep, personal care, and medication reminders. Skilled nurses (RNs/LPNs) provide medical care such as assessments, wound care, medication management, IV support, and ordered therapy services.

Our minimum shift is four hours. After that, we build a schedule around your needs—whether you need a few hours, full days, weekends, or ongoing support.

Yes. If overnight support is needed, we can include it in your care plan.

Caregivers can help with companionship, daily routines, light household tasks, personal care, and medication reminders. They don’t provide medical advice, administer medications, or perform skilled nursing tasks unless the service is specifically arranged.
